SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, Nursing Stories

"It is amazing to me to think I am starting my 9th year here at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon. It feels like just yesterday I started my journey here. From the moment I stepped on the nursing unit as a graduate nurse I knew this was the place that I wanted to work. Everyone I work with is warm, caring and friendly."

- Mary Miller, RN

"I have been honored to have such supportive and encouraging leaders and co-workers in my different roles at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Hospital. My workplace has always been an enjoyable environment which makes me look forward to coming in for each shift. We have a wonderful culture of helping each other, regardless of our title or department you may be a part of. I live the Mission of SSM Health by walking into each work day with a positive attitude."

- Rachel Vogler, RN

"I chose to begin my career at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital because I spent two weeks in the NICU here when I was a baby. My mom always told me about one particular evening when they told her that I wouldn't survive. She said the nurse never left my bedside all night. She always spoke so fondly of the staff in the Cardinal Glennon NICU and how they supported her through that impossible time. Today, I live the Mission by showing compassion through the care I deliver to patients and their families."

- Rachel Flicker, RN, NICU

"I am a registered nurse working at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital as a clinic coordinator. I consider it an honor to be the face families turn to when they need help. Each day begins with a prayer over the intercom. This is a reminder to me that the work we do here is bigger than any one physician, nurse, technician or staff member. Every child is a gift from God and is treated with dignity and respect."
