We partner with employees in their personal and professional development and provide ongoing opportunities to learn and grow on both a personal and professional level. Through every level at SSM Health, we offer training programs on topics ranging from clinical skills to communication to management strategy. We also partner with more than 16 universities and colleges to create unique educational opportunities for all of our employees. We remain committed to providing a market-competitive benefits package, including tuition reimbursement and other formal programs to financially assist our employees who wish to further their education and prepare for the next level.
As a Mission- and Values-based organization, we recognize those individuals who deliver an exceptional patient and customer experience. We encourage our employees to seek out new opportunities and challenges across SSM Health. We pride ourselves in promoting from within our organization to support a continuous culture of learning and development. In 2016, over 8,988 employees started a new career with us. 1,680 of those hires were internal promotions - see information below for the most recent illustration of internal promotions.
Over 4,000 of our more than 33,000 employees have over 20 years of service with us. Those employees have very likely performed in several roles and carried out various responsibilities during their tenure. We believe the Mission, Values, Vision and culture of SSM Health as well as the opportunity for advancements is why employees choose us as an employer...and they stay.
In addition, at SSM Health, we offer a formal leadership development program - Rising Leaders - for non-management employees who have demonstrated leadership capabilities and are interested in learning more about leadership positions. The program teaches participants the knowledge and skills required to be successful leaders. To be considered for the program, managers must provide a specific example or situation of how the employee demonstrates leadership competency on a regular basis.
